Update from the OPA on Revitalization Process

Timmins, September 3, 2025The Ontario Prospectors Association (OPA) is pleased to update its members and the exploration community on the important progress being made in revitalizing the Association and strengthening its governance.

Executive Director Recruitment

The OPA’s Executive Director recruitment process is advancing steadily. The first round of interviews has been successfully completed, and we are now moving into the second round with a strong pool of qualified candidates. We are encouraged by the caliber of applicants and confident that this process will soon lead to the appointment of a new leader who will help drive the Association forward.

Acting Executive Director and Records Recovery

Acting Executive Director Bill MacRae has been instrumental in ensuring momentum through this transition. Bill has retrieved the Association’s historical records, a significant step in strengthening institutional memory and accountability. These records – including audits, minutes, and AGM notes for both the OPA and the Ontario Exploration Corporation (OEC) – are being digitally organized. Once complete, we intend to post annual audits and any other important documents online for member access. This commitment to transparency is central to the OPA’s renewal, ensuring members have the tools to stay informed and engaged.

Strengthening Administrative Support: Welcoming Frances MacVeigh

The OPA is also delighted to welcome Frances MacVeigh as Administrative Support. Frances represents the fourth generation of her family in the mining industry, bringing with her a deep, personal connection to the sector. In addition to her heritage, Frances contributes extensive practical experience from her role at Orix Geoscience, where she has been involved in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and the integration of geoscientific data into active exploration programs.

Her unique blend of family legacy, professional expertise, and organizational skills makes her an invaluable resource for the OPA. Frances has already demonstrated how her knowledge of exploration workflows and community relationships can improve efficiency and sharpen the Association’s ability to deliver on its commitments. We are fortunate to have her energy and insight supporting the OPA during this pivotal stage. OPA | admin@ontarioprospectors.com| September 2, 2025

2024 Audit and Upcoming AGM

Transparency and accountability remain top priorities. The audits for fiscal year 2024 OPA and OEC are in final stages of completion. Once the audits are finalized, we will call the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in early October. The AGM will provide members with a full update on finances, the revitalization process, and the opportunity to actively participate in shaping the OPA’s future.

Looking Ahead

The OPA is committed to moving forward with renewed focus, accountability, and enthusiasm. The combination of leadership renewal, record transparency, enhanced administrative support, and upcoming member engagement through the AGM positions the Association on strong footing for the future.

We thank all our members and partners for their ongoing patience, engagement, and trust as we work together to strengthen Ontario’s exploration community.
