The OPA Builds Momentum with New Directors and Strategic Direction at Virtual AGM

Today the OPA held its first-ever Virtual AGM with over 50 members participating! Thank you to all members who joined us online today. Your strong turnout and thoughtful engagement were valued and welcomed. It’s your support that allows the OPA Board to take on the important work of transforming the Ontario Prospectors Association into the modern, member-focused organization you deserve.

During the meeting, we successfully voted in our new directors, approved the 2024 financial statements, appointed auditors, and introduced our new CEO. Clearly, we are on a roll. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue this momentum, with our next AGM scheduled for June 2025 to review the 2025 financials and share our progress.

I want to acknowledge the Board and specifically the Revitalization Committee for their dedication over the past 18 months. Their hard work has guided the Association thorough this renewal process providing greater stability and setting the stage for a robust future. This, however, is just the beginning, there is much more to accomplish.

With the backing of members like you, they’ve prepared the Association to enter a new chapter: modernized governance, stronger continuity, and deeper opportunities for meaningful member participation.

The OPA stands at an inflection point. After several challenging years, our members, government partners and stakeholders are looking to the OPA for leadership in shaping the future of the exploration and development sectors in Ontario. Thanks to your engagement and support, and the Board’s commitment to delivering real change, we are well positioned to meet these expectations and enhance the OPA’s credibility and influence.

In the months ahead, you can expect several important initiatives:

  • a membership survey to capture your priorities
  • a strategic planning process to set our long-term path
  • a re-envisioning of the OPA brand that honours our legacy while looking forward
  • greater engagement with the Ontario Government and other key stakeholders

These efforts are designed to deliver tangible value to you, our member and to strengthen the OPA as a trusted and effective voice for Ontario’s prospecting community.

I would also like to welcome new directors Emma Vincent Croft, Carl Nagy, Dylan Moore and Cameron Grant to the OPA. This talented group of directors will bring energy, focus, and fresh perspectives to support the growth and success of our community.

By working together, with members and leadership aligned and focused, we will continue to build a stronger, more influential OPA that serves everyone in Ontario’s prospecting and exploration community.

The future is ours to discover.

Best,

Steve Virtue, CEO
